We want to decommission Qlik, which has many dashboards, because it's legacy technology. From a transformation logic perspective, the curated layer for Qlik uses Dremio. Have you heard of Dremio, and how would you approach moving to Tableau?

Dremio is a data-as-a-service engine that provides a semantic layer and query acceleration over various data sources. To move from Dremio to Tableau, I would first inventory the Dremio datasets and the business logic embedded in its virtual datasets. I would then map those virtual datasets to equivalent tables or views in a target data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake or Databricks). The transformation logic can be reimplemented using dbt or Spark SQL, ensuring that the same business rules are preserved. Once the data layer is ready, I would create Tableau data sources that point to the curated tables, leveraging Tableau’s native connectors. I would also set up a data catalog in Tableau Server to maintain metadata consistency. Throughout the transition, I would run parallel tests to validate that the Tableau dashboards produce the same metrics as the original Qlik dashboards, and I would provide training to end users to ease the adoption.
