What motivated you to pursue a career in data engineering?

I was first drawn to data engineering during my undergraduate studies in Computer Science, where I took a course on database systems. The project that required building a real‑time analytics pipeline for a university event sparked my interest in how raw data can be transformed into actionable insights. After graduation, I joined a startup as a backend developer and quickly realized that the bottleneck for product decisions was often the data layer. I took the initiative to learn SQL, ETL tools, and cloud data services, and I led the migration of our monolithic database to a microservices architecture with a data lake on AWS S3. This experience taught me the importance of clean, reliable data pipelines in driving business outcomes. I am motivated by the challenge of designing systems that can ingest, process, and serve large volumes of data efficiently, and by the opportunity to collaborate with data scientists and product teams to turn data into strategic value. My passion for continuous learning and problem‑solving keeps me excited about the evolving landscape of data engineering.
