I am currently working on a data‑processing pipeline that ingests real‑time telemetry from IoT devices. We are migrating from Azure to AWS to leverage several strategic advantages. First, AWS offers a broader range of managed services that align with our architecture—Amazon Kinesis for streaming, DynamoDB for low‑latency storage, and SageMaker for ML inference—reducing operational overhead. Second, cost optimization is a key driver; AWS’s spot instances and Savings Plans provide significant savings for our compute‑heavy workloads. Third, we need tighter integration with our existing on‑premises data lake, and AWS Direct Connect offers a low‑latency, secure link that outperforms Azure ExpressRoute in our region. Finally, regulatory compliance (GDPR, SOC 2) is more straightforward with AWS’s extensive compliance catalog. The migration plan involves re‑architecting the ingestion layer to use Kinesis Data Streams, moving the database to Aurora Serverless, and containerizing services with ECS Fargate for seamless scaling.
